- Controversial antibacterial ingredient now linked to inflammation and cancer
From the article:This 2016 FDA regulation effectively banned triclosan, and 18 other compounds, from consumer antiseptic wash products such as hand soap. The strangely limited regulation still allowed the chemical to be used in hand wipes or sanitizers and toothpastes with the only substantial comment at the time coming from Janet Woodcock, director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, saying "Consumers may think antibacterial washes are more effective at preventing the spread of germs, but we have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap and water."https://newatlas.com/triclosan-gut-bacteria-inflammation-cancer/54844/

- Sears creditors question deals between bankrupt retailer and its chairman - CNN
A significant reason Sears had to file bankruptcy now is not that the business was loosing money. From the Article:Sears creditors are questioning a series of deals between the company and its chairman and primary shareholder, Eddie Lampert, saying they might have been structured to benefit him rather than the company.
...
"Actions taken by the company, and Lampert and ESL...suggest that the insider transactions may be part of an extended pattern of conduct that served to benefit certain (insider) equity holders at the expense of creditors and [Sears Holdings]," said the filing.
- Income Inequality Explains the Decline of Youth Sports - The Atlantic
From the article:"Kids' sports has seen an explosion of travel-team culture, where rich parents are writing a $3,000 check to get their kids on super teams from two counties, or two states, away," said Tom Farrey, the executive director of Aspen's Sports & Society program. Expensive travel leagues siphon off talented young athletes from well-off families, leaving behind desiccated local leagues with fewer players, fewer involved parents, and fewer resources.
